Hi all

Will be visiting relatives in Worthing Sussex next March/April and would like to contact anyone in this vicinity with a view to helping my family commence distilling. I am from Oz and it seems much easier to acquire stills etc here than in UK.
BTW incorporating a trip to Islay during my visit. Can't wait.
Look forward to hearing from you
Cheers

As an unknown member (sorry) you might find members here reluctant to meet or exchange personal contact details - you never know where you might run into a crafty customs man or woman trying to score points by catching a few illicit distillers ::)

Having said that you'll get all the help you could need right here. We all started at this point and there are actually some very knowledgeable people around these parts always willing to help.

Mate, you will love Islay,I do.Visited a dozen times, and each better than the last.
AM raises a valid point there.
Distilling in the UK is not allowed for home distillers, and so finding someone willing to face to face may indeed prove a challenge,as lots of us are constantly looking over our shoulders.
Sure,it is not illegal to own a still here, only to use it for the distillation of alcohol.
And yes,HMRC can track us down from our ISP addresses,If they could be bothered, but would have to catch us in the act,if they were seriously wanting to prosecute.
At the moment I believe we are considered "small potatoes",hang on a minute, someone at the door..................

There's a better one in Aldershot, if they don't mind the hour drive... ;D

Can relate to this comment. I'm in Oz but luckily a couple of local Police Inspectors are in to the same thing.???????????? We're not supposed to use a still. Can get the gear sent to UK from Oz.
Can re-assure anyone but I make high grade 95% vodka and produce better than bought Bourbons, Whiskys, Gin, Cognac etc. Just want the opportunity to give my relatives the same opportunity.
Cheers jeb5

Is it not legal in OZ to still so long as your boiler is under 5 litres? Or am I getting confused with NZ?

No I'm sure it's a no no in Oz also, we went to Oz over last chrimbo and I was lucky to get an invite from a guy who lived about 20 miles from our family. We had a great few hours seeing his stills and other gear, talking to him but they have to keep their heads down just like we have to, it's NZ where it's ok. ;)

I'm doubting that, but as always willing to be proved wrong.
Is SD Oz cheaper than SDe,with shipping?
Equally,I seem to recall some chat somewhere of SD agents not shipping to anothers domain.
I use their gear, but am getting tired of this site being an endorsement for their product, good as it is.
Robert.

How crazy is that...so it's legal to do 5 lts but if you had a 20 lts still you get done???.so if you ran 4 x 5 lts stills would you be legal?? cockamamie or what. :-\

Nice to know that you folk down under are so touchy/feely,and annointing yourselves with,or burning such substances.
I mistakenly thought you were all as hard as a Dingo's claws!
