This is a blended water supply zone and so the levels of these parameters can vary throughout the year, depending on the proportion of water coming from the Silent Valley and Lough Neagh.
Based on the results from the start of 2016 to date, the minimum, average and maximum results are showing below.
NI Water’s regulatory sampling does not include any test for alkalinity (carbonate). However, an experienced member of staff has provided an estimated level for each supply zone, Silent Valley supply would be around 15mg/l and Lough Neagh 110mg/l so the average is somewhere in the middle.
Minimum
Average
Maximum
Calcium (mg/l)
7.2
25.8
49.8
Magnesium (mg/l)

8.6
Sodium (mg/l)
5.8
11.1
17.7
Sulphate (mg/l)
13
37
74
Chloride (mg/l)
8.2
14.7
23
pH
6.93
7.48
7.89
One thing to note is that currently the area would have a higher proportion of Lough Neagh water and so the levels would be closer to the higher values, with the exception of pH, which should be similar for both.
