Well it didn't leak, that's about as far as I've got so far lol, hopefully I'll get another test run on the new column this week.

Re: What I Did Today
Today I started the process of clearing my first two washes after degassing last night.
Popped over to a friends for a brew and thanked him for the 25kg of sugar he left outside my back door a while ago. The topic of brewing soon started and he told me never to buy sugar again as he always gets loads of sacks that he can't sell due to been ripped. As well as that he also asked what sort of yeast I used as he has catering sized packages that were coming towards the end of their sell by date.
I mentioned the Apple Pie recipe to him and he said he would love to try it. Just before we left he told me not to bother buying any concentrated Apple Juice online as he could get six large samples as a freebie from a supplier once he made a phone call in the morning.
He's a good lad my mate, and will be rewarded with an endless supply of the fruits of my labour.

As a good friend of mine used to say, " To be so lucky, you must have been dipped in snake piss at birth!"

Re: What I Did Today
I must have been dipped into something, more recently though.
It was good to see him for the first time in ages. Even though we only live eight miles apart, we rarely get to see each other due to work and family life. It was earlier this evening we were both reminiscing and realised it was 20 years ago when it all went wrong. We found women !.
Always look forward to lazy Summer evenings together. Usually end up at the same local harbour, rod in hand, beer or brew in the other while hopefully ending up with some fresh Mackerel to take home.

Today I got litmus paper delivered from Kyrgyzstan and the packet had not been opened by customs, though I'm sure they noted my address >:D

Re: What I Did Today

As I will be freeze stripping in a few days I thought I would try and lighten the freezer a bit. Picked 15.5lbs of blackberries last year and they were still there this morning, untouched. Dragged them out, partially defrosted them and ran about half through my steam juicer. Ended up with 3.65 litres of pure juice and will expect about the same amount once the others are done. Going to bottle this lot and pasturise it, but before I do, I might pass it through a few coffee filters just to make sure its completely clear.
Its going to taste good once some neutral and sugar is added to it later on.

Blackberry doo, sounds interesting, if not very good.
I have made not very good Blackberry doo.
Hope yours is better than mine.

Re: What I Did Today
Funny you say that ED.
The juice from these blackberries is pretty rough round the edges and it doesn't contain much sugar. The SG was 1.033.
Will have to search around nearer the time for a recipe that includes the juice and not just the juice. Have to agree with you on what it has and may turn out like.

Re: What I Did Today
Managed to get a full 9 bottles of the blackberry juice out of the berries. Just finished them off by pasturising in brown Magnum cider bottles and crow capping them
Thanks for that Brewhunter.
Have noted how much you used in my little black book. It will give me a good starting point when I give it a go. Will only start with one bottle just to be on the safe side. Did you add anything else to your recipe. Any glycerin or other flavours.

In general, I add the tiniest amount of vanilla essence and the tiniest amount of glycerine to just about everything these days, but that's just me.

They were exactly the same ingredients I was thinking of adding.
Looking forward to having a go. The drink supplies are nil but will change once the neutral stocks are up and its mixed with some of the recipes I have planned.
