cost of running an airstill
hi,
im just wondering how much electricity my airstill uses? i had it running constantly yesterday for over 8hours doing a stripping run, i assume it uses as much or maybe more as an electric kettle, might end up a costly hobby in the long run.

Re: cost of running an airstill
To work out what an electrical appliance uses.
It's wattage x unit price of electricty/1000
If you have a 350 watt airstill and are paying 18p per kilowatt hour.
350x18/1000 = 6.3p per hour to run.
Following Aidammac's method, one 22 litre wash would take 9 (6 stripping + 3 Spirit) Runs at say 5 hours each.
Total cost would be 9 x 5 x 6.3 = £2.83 divide that by 6.3 (litres at 40%ABV) and the cost works out at 44p a litre.
Only you can decide if that is an expensive hobby!

If you use it when your heating is on, then it's virtually free to run.
