Filtering spirits after distillation

Tea bag filters and Essencia

Postby Sonnyinbc » Fri Jan 23, 2015 3:59 am

Still have a dozen of the Smart Still tea bags, which I will use on second distill, and then into the Essencia Purifier. Wondering if I should consider that procedure when the last tea bag is used up? Or is it just a waste?

I suppose eventually (weeks from now ) I could compare. Thinking perhaps one of you has already done that and offer an opinion.

Thanks

Those tea bags are 100% useless (or at least 99.99999987% useless). They are doing you no good at all. The might be slightly useful for distilled water.

Lots of people are leery of that plastic spout they sit in as well. High proof alcohol tends to leach unhealthy things from plastic, among other substances. Disclosure: mine is still on.

Did you get that Essencia in Canada? If so, where? I looked last year and did not see anyone selling it.

The plastic spout is also still residing on my Smart still,I figured there were only so many nasties that it could leach.
The old mod on here to replace with a chunk of copper to me seemed worthwhile if not using copper boil pieces.
Carbon t-bags,nice idea,or clever marketing.
Waste of time really.
The still itself,a great little item, even after you try something bigger.
