I am going to try a whisky for thr first time using my grainfather with the Alembic Pot Still Condenser. Does this sound OK guys.
6kg maris otter crushed malt mashed and then fermented out.
25 litres into boiler for strip run, run quite quick throwing the first 100ml and saving the rest.
Spirit run throwing the first 100ml and collecting in several jars the heads hearts and tails.
keep the hearts for drinking and keeping the heads and nails for next wash?
Does that sound OK or and advice guys.

I think for Whisky, while stripping it pays to go a little deeper into the tails, I'm sure Easydrinker once mentioned he stripped down until the product from the still was just 10% ABV.

You might have to work through a full sack of grain to get enough strip for your spirit run, maybe consider adding some peat smoked grain too.

Also once you made your first spirit run, keep all the head and tails you not drinking as feints, this can be added to your next spirit run to add more flavour.

Roberts the Whisky man, I'm sure he will add anything I've missed.

Also worth noting is you don't need to boil your wort, although some people do for 10mins just to sterilise the wort
