Right lads.

I bought the t500 stainless column. The fear got the better of me.
And that's not normally like me.

There is a whole section here that will help you get the most from a T500, primarily the water control widget being the first concern.
I think that you landed the correct side of the fence ;)

I recall looking at these and they are russian style vodka stills that are decent value if you get away without paying import duty. Apart from cost, the other question is whether stainless steel or copper suits you better.

Well I decided to bite the bullet and I ordered a 24L stockpot still from prostill.co.uk delivery was super quick and I tried it out the other day with my portable induction hob. I am pretty happy with this. My next purchase I will be looking to make is a reflux column for one of my 30litre kegs.

I do like induction hobs. Good tool for stilling I would have thought because it gives you much better control. 8)

What's the build quality like?

I am glad that seems to be working for you.
We need someone to come along and shake the bars of the cage once in a while. ;)

If you look right at the bottom, there's a clue......

Poland.

Dunno about these specifically, but a FB friend (registered here but only posted a few times and I can't remember his username) has a Polish reflux still.

Last time we spoke, he was happy as Larry with it. His is (from memory) 50-100 litre capacity, with something like a 1.8 metre column and what looked like a shotgun condenser.

He was getting 95.6% in one pass........

I think his cost him about the 600 mark.........
