Out Of Date Videne
Still haven't managed to complete my spirit run with my air still due to medical problems, but today is a better day.
At the moment my low wines is still in various glass vessels which range from an old glass Roses sweet jar to a collection of jam and sauce jars. All were thoroughly cleaned before use but I now need to make the nine litres of low wines up to twelve with water so that I have three equal runs for the spirit run stage.
I'm always strict as far as sterilisation is concerned and have used Videne for a few years due to the time saving element and instant effects. The problem I have now is that my Videne Antiseptic Solution is well out of date and I need to steralise some glass demijohns to hold the low wines. I still have nearly a full bottle left but the expiry date is 08/2012.
Seeing as though its nearly 3 years out, shall I bin it or can I up the dose per litre to make it effective. TBH there isn't much smell left to it but it would be a shame to throw it if it can still be used.
I think the original dilution rate was 1 ml to a litre of water but I might be wrong. So what should I do, throw it and buy new or up the dosage amount.
Cheers
