Special offers, sales and bargains
Re: Special offers, sales and bargains
Hum? We do jam here, which is why we can see they aren't a bad price, but not a bargain.
Also, a slightly irregular size. Not a 1lb/454g jar and equally not 12oz/340g, which are the two usual sizes........
If you're not fussed, then go for it. It's just that we usually use recipes as a guide that make multiples of those sizes........

Indeed, but why spend on new jars for that, rather than just saving jars that've been emptied ?
We only use new jars for giveaways. Any for home use (whether jams or cuts etc), we just use them again etc........

Simples Mr Walker....
Some peeps use turbos - yeast that is (including your good self
)....
NOT having a go BUT if the urge is desparate and the missus has all the little jars full of jam/pickles/whatever then a quick trip to good old Wilko fixes...

8 litre Square based Kilner Drink Dispensers @ £12.00
My local Morrisons have had these on sale now for some time. Yesterday I bought what appeared to be the last two from my local store.
At this price, a check at your local Morrisons could be worth while
Most other sources are charging in the £20.00 region.

Sugar 2 bags for £1 at farmfoods
I know it's not as cheap as Morrisons but still a relative bargain.

Re: Special offers, sales and bargains
on the distilling Expo we will show some gear, that we will most likely not want to carry home again (freight forwarding is very expensive)
So if you are interested, I will post shortly before the Expo, which parts can be bought at a reduced price.
There will be a Milkcan of course and a Dash, some copper helmets, a Baby Dragon and so on...
Of course this makes only sense, when the items are carried away directly from the EXPO grounds, I have no chance to ship it from London to you.
Also we will give away some oak samples, like we do every year...maybe there are also some spirits to taste at our booth - who knows

Re: Special offers, sales and bargains
Kinda lost in this thread, assume you are talking about the impending minimum alcohol pricing where I live in Scotland?
Expect a few more Scots to be fermenting their Mars bars and Pizza instead of deep frying them.
Then they will join this site to see how to make it taste good.
I can certainly produce neutral at well less than half the proposed pricing.
I didn't want to have to get back into beer making.
Cheap and ready made good beer has been a boon for several years. >:(
Robert.

Re: Special offers, sales and bargains
I am on the verge of ordering some peat smoked malt (crushed):
http://www.thehomebrewcompany.co.uk/min ... -3316.html
It is crushed and has a phenol range of 50ppm.
This is actually much more expensive than I have previously paid in the past.
Before I commit myself, does anybody know of a similar product currently available at a cheaper price?

That is a BIG phenol number.
I think that this one comes in around 30.
I seem to recall sacks labelled at 36, but don't quote me!
As I am sure you are aware, the ebc is a wash colour guide.
It certainly costs a little less.
