Rye whiskey recipe

Hi started this rye whiskey today if I've gone wrong point out please. 1.5kg of sliced rye bread the stuff that looks like a brick,4.5kg of sugar and 90g off baker's yeast.Started by crumble rye in 5 litres of water not boiling it ,then added water and sugar then added the pans off water to sugar and topped upto 28 litres sg was 1070 so fingers crossed.

My plan after its fermented is clearing it removing the packed column on my t500 so i get the flavour carrying over and double distille it .

I boiled mine but turned out great. Enjoy

Bread washes are new to me, apart from my one attempt at jailhouse wine, vile stuff.

Won't come as a surprise that I froze it and then ran once through an AS. Takes oak nice.

Got some JD chips so gonna put some on them then age in a barrel if i don't start to drink it.

Use the trub after your 1st ferment and make
a Rye Voddie also V nice.

You are right about the bread. Must be eaten
by barefoot lesbian librarians.

Hahaha would you use 5 kg off sugar and about 70g off baker's yeast for the rye vodka?

Yup and top up to about 5 gal/23l. You will find is takes of really well because of the residual yeasts.

What brand of rye bread did you use? Apparently the best stuff is really dark like pumpernickel but I can’t find any locally
