In the intersts of full disclosure, which obviously most of you are completely not interested in, my brew buddies are Murp and Nimbus. The picture thing is messing me about. Murp is an abysinnian tabby type and Nimbus looks for all the world like a russian blue, but isn't. Both are rescues Image

Max is a loyal brewing/drinking buddy. We can often be found in the pub mid walk. He's a rescue dog with some issues hence the ASBO harness

If he drinks cider by the pint it might be the reason for the issues LOL

Some more progress, made a right mess with expanding foam while sealing the gaps, didn't find the gloves until afterwards!!

Just about holds three fermenters more likely I will have two 60 litre ones in there

Just need a door of some sort to finish it off

Looking good A...for the doors what about say 5mm ply bonded to the foam sheet??
What are you doing for heat?

Not sussed out the doors yet, I have a small 650w oil filled electric heater, I was thinking of maybe using that as it has a thermostat built in, all depends how good my doors are, if I can get a good thermal seal, then maybe a 65w electric bar heater might be enough.

From a Green and cost saving point of view, so with you, possibly worth trying extra hard with the doors for a good seal, it could pay back many times over.

I have possibly said before that I am able to brew and still in my living space.
This works a little like the principle of filling a freezer with bread or cardboard boxes, to cut down on the expense to keep cool air spaces.
Six fermenting brew bins chuck out a bit of heat, I feed a little in via always installed aquarium heaters for if the indoor air temp is not high enough, but they do not often switch on.
Symbiosis.
Me and Yeast. ;D

Getting there, doors fitted and a wash inside, it's a 60 litre bucket in there, hard to tell the scale of things from the pic.

The doors are 18mm ply wood but not yet insulated on the inside, I've been playing with my infrared thermometer, the concrete guarage floor is 12°c, the sides are 13°c, top is 13.5°c and the front doors are 15°c, so still some work to do insulating them and sealing the gap when they close.

The wash is quite happy at 24°c, it's on a heat mat and I also have a 65w heat bar on a thermostat, keeping the ambient air temp between 18-20°c.

Also have it all connected to my power meter, at present it's costing about 12p per day but I'm sure that will improve with a little more insulation around the front doors and another wash in there

I was amazed how much my concrete floor robbed heat. Have you go room to insulate that too?

The floor of my box is insulated, with 50mm foam insulation and some chipboard on top to rest my buckets, I just measured the floor as a reference for how cold the guarage is, the closer the outside of my box is to the floor temp, the better the insulation.
