Ok so my recent kale washes im not happy with so i thought i would try a vodka star wash as i had one lying around for some time.
i used 5kg of sugar as recommended on here.brewed it at 21c and it has now been through the air still twice using the guide i use from this site, and its a lot better tasting and way more neutral .
im sure my first kale was as good but since that they have been poor .
can anyone please put on the exact recipe they are using for the kale wash as i must be going wrong somewhere.otherwise i will just use the vodka star although it is rather expensive compared to the kale wash.

Phantom has always sworn by VS, and he has been around awhile,(alonga while) and would consider himself short of time.
I have never been convinced/never tried the Kale wash.
I am still happy with my variation on the Lentil wash, Yellow split pea.

Sorry ED I'd go with Mr Walker on this.

One reason is (and it may be just me....) the old phhh question seems to come up too often with lentil

The other thing to consider is that the biggest ingredient is quite variable.... Water.

A scaley kettle makes for a good ferment.

we definitely have a scaley kettle very hard water here..
so we can rule that one out me thinks.

My water is so soft that I often find angels bathing in it.
I will concede on the ph issue with Lentil brews.
Now I simply throw in a couple of teaspoons of Bi-carb of soda per 25 lit on day two of ferment.
It then ferments out rapidly, 5 days(ish)
It works for me.
