Re: What I Did Today
Just completed my first spirit run sing a TPW. (the wet cardboard smells are a lot easier to detect with this when compared to the Still Spirits triple distilled
Set another 36l wash of TPW.
Going to have a bash at the bran flake / cornflake wash.
Enjoying!!

Stripping a sugar wash tonight,,might enjoy a glass of rum later..
Speaking of rum,, I have two 25 l batches fermenting now, and we are heading South in 7 days, Will the washes be fine if I leave them?, I will remove the heat source in 5 days. Should I rack them off the lees before we go or let it clear till we get back,? we will be gone for 10 days.

It should be fine to leave it for a few days. Will give the yeast time to settle and as long as it has 10% or greater alcohol it wont go off.

I sat around on my outside deck, through a clear and warm Autumn afternoon, sampling Scarecrow's Sourmash Bourbon, Single Malt Whisky and Rye Whiskey........and all these fine spirits delivered courtesy of the maker too! Damn fine way to spend a Saturday arvo, IMHO

Re: What I Did Today
Spent a full day on the Bank Holiday here doing a 45l spirit run
Most of the run was made at 1.3Kw which produced about 2.5l/h from my Pot Still and Thumper. I was very pleased with the yield and heartily recommend the use of a thumper with a keg still.
My run ended with 4lt of Hearts @ 82% ABV which will be blended for Vodka for SWMBO and 8l of other spirits @ 76% after cuts and blending, this will be used to make Nuclear (sorry, nukeuler) Whisky.
The unused Heads and Tails totalled 5l and I turned off the boiler at 45% because it was taking too much power to get a very faint dribble from the condenser at full power plus I was worn out at that stage.
I just love the satisfaction of knowing I've put in a good day's work and earned my keep for another while.

Lovely, I'll try a drop of the Silver Rum if you don't mind. Ice and a slice will do nicely
