http://www.goodlifehomebrew.com/still-spirits-ez-filter-with-pails.phpAbove is a link to the Still Spirits "EZ filter with pails".
Has anyone used this ? as I already have a "Z filter" (with both buckets) which works fine, except it can be a bit of a pain when it comes to replacing the the carbon, and setting the buckets at the right height so I don't have to cut the tube from the filter to the receiving bucket is a bit of a pain.......
And it's got me wondering what type of carbon is used, and whether it will be easier/more compact to use ?

the bucket is a good idea but the filters are crap..
i had an EZ filter and i took the solid carbon thing out and filled it with loose carbon and that worked 1000x better!.
if your going to buy a "pail" type filter, then pay that bit extra and but the essencia filter as they do one of the best jobs of filtering spirit.

Well it was just that I saw it while looking for some different essences/flavourings and wondered whether it was worth the effort for convenience.
Sounds like its gonna be easier just to stick to my Z filter, whether it's a pain to refill or not.......

if it filters well, then why change it?
i used to use carbon filters with a similar set up to yours but i like the ease and convenience of the essencia.

I was just thinking the the convenience of the 2 buckets together would be for setting up, but if it generally uses some sort of proprietary compressed carbon ring type things, then that's no good as they'd work out a lot dearer than currently (with my "washing" used carbon etc).
The essencia filter ? Is that the one that looks like a sort of jug type thing ? Or am I thinking of something different ?
