Well I\'ve also read elsewhere, about using half a pack of turbo, and it successfully fermenting out, but over a longer period that \"they\" suggest.
So I suspect it\'s a good suggestion bluecap.
Even better if someone has to get their yeasts mail order and it reduces the postage cost per batch as well.
I\'m lucky in the sense that the local HBS stocks the still spirits range stuff so I just go for that, actually, he sells a little plassy bag for £5.80, which contains the turbo, the carbon and the finings. So while not exactly cheap, it\'s not too dear, and it\'s very convenient......

I stopped using turbo yeasts a while back now. I just use regular old dry baker’s yeast at £2.65 per 500Gms. The brand I use (simply coz it’s what they had) is DCL Instant yeast.
Here’s what I do :-
1 Tablespoon of yeast for every bag of sugar (1KG)
1 Teaspoon of D.A.P for every bag (I got it in bulk from the net)
2 Tablespoons of Marmite.
I only ever put 5KG of cheapo Aldi sugar in 22L of water to make my wash.
It usually takes 2 weeks to ferment out to less than 1.000, but your mileage may vary.
There are probably better wash recipes out there, but this works for me.
