Filtering spirits after distillation

Alcohol reclamation

Postby bullock smithy » Tue Nov 28, 2017 2:04 pm

Hi, Ive been using a T500 to try to make Gin, ive made some but gone overboard with the cinnamon, Ive also made other spirits using the essences, non of these are brilliant, is it possible to reclaim the alcohol just by re distilling in the t500, even though this may take several passes or am i stuck with the flavours,, thanks all

If you are using the column and not the alembic, yes, just bung it all in and redistill. It will leave behind all the flavour

The other tip for the t500 is that although the manual says there are no ‘tails’ there are. Maybe 5he abv doesn’t drop significantly but when the output water t3mp rises rapidly abov3 65 degrees at the end of the 4un, stop collecting there as it starts getting that wet Labrador smell and flavour..
By all means collect it separately to bung in yr next batch.

H12rpo seems to have answered your question, but, YES, you can reclaim drinking alcohol from mistakes.
Experience, you can't buy it ;D
