Hi mate
You need to dilute before you filter ideally with brita filtered water
I tend to filter at 45% then do final adjust after with more filtered water
Try not to collect the priming water when you first put the spirit in or you'll end up over diluted

Hi All I have the EZ Filter...... It's a good unit filters perfectly well..... The two biggest problems I've found is the Time it takes to do it (10 - 13 hours) and my guy at the home bre shop said that because it's plactic the spindles tend to break quite often.... Hasn't happened to me as yet so all in all it's a good system and relatively easy to use.

I tend to let my filter run overnight. Hope this helps a little

ps I am looking at up grading in the not to distant future to the Pure Distilling System which is only $100 more than the EZ Filter and is all Stainless Steel (including the spindle). Also the carbonfilter is twice the size in width and quite a bit smaller in height..... This filter will fit the EZ Filter system so I purchased one to try.... My guy here told me that he uses this bigger filter 2 - 3 times before getting a new one ( They are only $1.00 dearer than the carbon for the EZ Filter.

When this happens I will let everyone the results. :)

Hi All Did a Spirit run yesterday Filtered last night with the Pure Distilling Carbon Filter..... Results where brilliant....... filtered 3.5 Litres of Spirit in 3/4 of an hour....... crystal Clean and absolutely no carbon in the spirit whatsoever.....

Conculsion: The Pure Distilling Carbon Filter is way better than the EZ carbon filter..... Well Worth Paying the extra $1.00 for a way better Product

Happy Distilling All

Hey Whimpy64,
Sounds very interesting. I've been considering having a Stainless Steel filter vessel made by my welding buddy and I'd be very interested in what you've described but I can't find it online. Can you post a link where I can look at it?

Thanks

Hi Guys..... No they are expensive.... but the main advantage of this over the T500 and others is that there's no packing and repacking the copper column with ceramic and brass saddles after each use..... what a bonus that's gotta be worth the extra bucks dont you think..... besides all the other benefits.....

The website is PureDistilling.com and they have a facebook page also

Hi Guys..... Well I had a win today..... One of my female mates over here wanted to purchase my T500 after sampling some of my Bourbon and Scotch.... and she's very fussy about her spirits coming from a naval background..... She came over last light and asked me to put a price on my whole setup including the ez filter.... When I told her she opened her purse and paid me for the lot lol..

So went to LHB Shop this morning and purchased the Pure Distilling outfit.... took me about 10 mins all told to setup and having the water running thru as explained in their brochure..... and didnt even have to change my existing lines.... Just took of the 13mm Fitting and the lines clamped straight on..... So no need for ugly green garden hose in the hose which will keep the mrs happy (Gotta love her) lol..... also purchased the Pure Distilling Stainless Still Filter as well.

Laid a mash down this afternoon..... So will report back here in 7 - 10 days with my results after my first run with the new setup..

Hi Admiral..... Lol no she was stone cold Sober mate..... and I only Charged her the cost of replacing the Still and threw in a few extras as well as the ez filter system..... which she was absolutely wrapped with.....

The cost of the new still and column combined totalled $700.00 and I forked out for the stainless filter system myself..... The total cost of the T500 over here was just on $1000 so the new unit is quite a bit cheaper and also comes with a 5 yr Money back garuntee excuse the spelling..... to boot and it is made locally in victoria and after a couple of years use he asks you to send the kit back to him for a full service and a repacking of the column .... at his expense postage both ways included so to my mind this system is a complete winner from which ever way you look at it.

Cheers
