Cooking Fruit ?
I have had 500grms of plums soaking in a litre of 40% A.B.V for a year, going to strain off and bottle soon and the plan was to use the plums to make a crumble but I'm now wondering if its safe to cook spirit soaked fruit in a gas oven dont really want to end up with a fire or blowing the oven door off
.Has anyone on here cooked spirit soaked fruit without any problems?

Interesting conundrum
I suppose the only thing to do is see if a match will light the plums
"Light Blue Touch Paper and Stand Well Back "
Go on, give it a blast!!!

Even if you don't blow the oven door off you will lose the alcohol.
I serve my Rum-pot fruit on a merengue nest with ice cream and whipped cream - delicious.

Try just lighting (or if you're feeling brave, "fire breathing") 40% spirit and you'll find that if it does ignite it burns off the alcohol very quickly. Whereas if you tried the same with high stength stuff, you'll see the difference immediately.
In a pie filling, it will evaporate quickly anyway.

Gave up on the idea I tried one of the plumbs and it was rock hard and tasteless the drink tastes fantastic,so looks like the spirit has leached out every last bit of flavour from the fruit
