I just wonder if someone could explain to me how to change the Tea Bag Carbon Filter on an Air Still,It seem that the only way i know of seems rather rough, and i'm frightened of damaging it,i have already pulled out a part of the Plastic Spout and had to force it back in,Has anyone any advice please.

I found the tea bag style filters to be rubbish so abandoned using them.

If you are happy to spend a few quid, you'll get a much better result by buying an Essencia filter.

I've never used them when I ran my AS, I've only ever read bad reviews of them.

You say you may have pulled the plastic part off....you can replace this with a small copper elbow which will help clean up your shine.
When I used mine I did this...

The top is sat on a kitchen roll..

This way you will have a small amount of copper in the spirit path as it runs.

Bin em.

Run non turbo recipes and you won't need them.

Thank you all for your help,I am new to all of this, and just mastered the basics of Distilling with an Air Still, and using Flavourings,But thank you for your help'
"IceFever" It was the the cover under the AirStill Spout that came out,but luckely i managed to put it back without any damage,It just seems like you have to be very rough to replace the Tea Bag Filter.
"SeaGull" I like the idea of a Essencia Filter but how often do you have to replace the filter parts ?.
"Mash"I would very much like to make Spirits without using Turbo Yeast if it would give me a better taste, and do away with the filtering, but as i have said i am new to all of this, could you tell me where i might find help to make better Spirits,Many thanks,0127frey.

Do a couple of searches on here or stroll through the recipe section.

"kale wash" heres the link

"wonderful wheat wash" "lentil" worth a read too and you will see the similarities.

There is also a user guide. Will worth a read.

PS normal advice for unpacking a new airstill is to through away the teabag filters and the instructions ;)

The spout of the Air still seems pretty robust, I haven't broken mine in several years of snapping it off and on, and I am considered to be a clumsy bugger.
However, I would not bother snapping it off to use a Carbon Tea Bag.
Do not waste your time and money.
Maybe it is not strange that here we have a manufacturer, and some retailers saying one thing, and experienced users saying something different?
Marketing has many questions to answer :D
It is the end users experiences that count?

Robert.

(Sorry to do that to your post Robert).

That's a salient point 0127frey.
And FWIW follow Mash with the kale wash first.
Wheat wash is good too, to get the wheat taste, lentil - not so much. Just a guide based on MHO.

I dunno what you are apologising for Packs, can I climb up your tree and fall down smacking my head on the same branches as yourself to gain insight? :)
