Getting the best out of MY Airstill

Post by Easydrinker » Sat Feb 23, 2019 7:53 pm

A picture is often worth a thousand words, this one is worth more.
For any new Airstill user, unsure of the way to do it, you could not start better than here.

This is not my property to share, but I believe the people involved would be happy for me to do so.
They need only contact me to have it removed.

Thanks for the diagram, it is very close to my system and will produces a superior spirit, and definitely for the AirStill aficionado. At some point I am minded to sit down and write up some thought for the newcomer opening the box for the first time with a view to easing them into the hobby and make friends with their still before moving on to the more complex corners of our hobby.

Fantastic guide!

Just started stripping my cornflake wash using this method.

Strangely only getting 700ml before it hits 20%....
(This is off a 11.5% wash. About an hour and halfs run, 2 and half including heat up)

The finished product using this method is a far cry from the
Still Spirits guide. The best thing a new owner can do is throw
away the guide that comes with the AS and use this method.
Happy days to proper stilling.

A chart that I follow all the time, a much better product than the instructions in the box and definitely better than the HB shop videos I watched before finding this forum.
Trying to make more than I drink.

I've just completed all the stripping runs from my 25L molasses and suagr wash.

Does this guide still apply or will the cuts be different on the spirit run? Was thinking of binning the first 50ml. Then just take 100ml jars until I hit 20% output?

Any advice guys? Cheers.

The cuts will be different as the chart relates to trying to obtain neutral from a basic sugar wash.
You, I presume want some flavour?
It is very much a subjective thing, just where you make your cuts with a flavoured wash.
I suggest putting the middle part of all spirit runs together and then experimenting with how far from the middle you wish to go with extras from the heads and tails.
Take your time and enjoy it.

It works best if you sit it on a small chest freezer.

Freeze stripping is just THE quickest & easiest way to get product.
