This cannot be organised by comittee style tactics. You cannot please all of the people all of the time. Letting them know that an event is happening with good notice is the best that can be done, IMHO.

Right one more go at a date. ....as the 2017 bank holiday fell flat, why when it can add up to 3/4 days off making a long weekend.

The "lad's only" suggestion went down like a concrete balloon with Mrs Ice, she wants to know why?? She thinks it would be great for the girls to have a natter while the guys do our thing.

With a rethink then what about the 2nd weekend in Aug?? the 12/13?

On that basis I was just trying to make it easy for us chaps to get a pass, by avoidng the obvious conflicts?

It's the middle of our "summer" and Aug is the only month that is easier for Mrs Ice.

All I would suggest is its a family caravan/campsite rather than an adult only one, that kind of scuppered it for me staying over during the summer holls, I get it about not wanting kids around lots of alcohol but I'm sure at least one of us will be far enough away for us to meet up and have a bit of a tasting.

Plus if it's going to be a bigger event, we should perhaps have a little competition, (no prises) but maybe create a few categories like Vodka, whisky, dark rum, white rum etc.

I'm only looking at family sites...got one on the shortlist with a pool....and the idea of a comp would be fun. Put your likker up and see how it fairs against others.

We have a large gazbo...one of those 6 sided ones, I'm thinking if the site owner will let us erect it in the corner out of the way...who knows???..Gaza on the BBQ...

OK, My thoughts here, and aimed primarily at Icefever; the Holiday weekend of the 23rd to 28th seems good to me, it allows people to check into the event for a day or two, while allowing hard core types to stay the course.
No way is this projected event to be a "bloke only" thing. I would not attend.
And remove any implied sexism/gay phobia thoughts from your minds.
I would want to meet the partners of stilling colleagues.
I would also not object too much to a mini Anavrin spilling my Whisky; this event, if it happens, is a "Family" thing, I have no objection to children being present...
Possibly, they are even a bonus, this should be like minded people meeting, not hard core piss heads trying to outdo each other.
I will travel to any location.

The date for the #2M&G is the weekend of the 12th/13th Aug...it's now set in stone.

I'm working on the where, I'll need to talk/email whichever site and check if there maybe a rally type area which we could use.
