Advocaat/Egg Flip

Postby Easydrinker » Tue Jul 02, 2013 7:13 pm

I haven't spotted this one in this slot, and think it deserves a place.
I know this is a favourite drink for grannies, but is also one of mine,-It once got to the stage that if I bought a bottle,I would drink a bottle.
A great way to preserve(?) any excess egg yolks for those of us with hens laying more than we can eat at this time of year.
Those that can be bothered can then use the whites as finings, win win.Or, endless meringues...............
What I like about this recipe is that the product is runnier than the commercial stuff, but tastes as good, in my opinion better.
It works very well with airstill spirit run output, don't bother filtering,it really makes no difference.

I have slightly modified this recipe.
And so, with a hat tip and apologies to someone named Wal over on HD:

Advocaat
10 egg yolks
2 tsp. Vanilla extract
250 g. (1 cup) sugar
500 ml. (2 cups) brandy or gin 40%abv or just about anything @ 40%
250 ml. (1 cup) water

Blitz the egg yolks and sugar (I use half this amount of sugar) and Vanilla extract with a hand blender.
Add the water and alcohol, blitz again.
Drink and enjoy.
It will last as long as you can resist it.In or out of the fridge.
Mine doesn't last long.
There is no ONE way.
