Got to answer Marshy.

Why the 20%?
Well there is no such thing these days as the King of the Castle>
The Queen of the Castle dictates that nothing more than 20% is going to be pushed thru this beautiful carbon thing.
Enough said about this,,, Essesacia has promised that is was a good question and after talking with there tech/ dept.. will get back to me..
What else can I say??
Will keep you all updated once Essencia figures it out..
Figure it will take them at least 6 weeks to run some some thru and then check the carbon filter--
OH-Hell!! This techy answer could and probably will take months,,
