Beast from the east, 2 more maybe dead.
Tonight I checked a couple of 25l tubs of kale wash ferments I had going in my workshop and it would apear the 'beast from the bloody east' has claimed two more victims, both tubs were off the floor, bubble wrapped and had aquarium heaters but both have no activity and still have 1030 worth of sugar left.
Is this game over or can we save this, I have checked the temp and both are at about 23 degrees so I added a generous dose of allinsons, will this recover or am I just wasting my time and end up with a yeasty smelling mess?

That should restart OK.
With a balloon whisk or similar, get some air in. Raise the temp 2c.
If you have an airstone you could try that for 20 mins.

My last one finally finished Friday after going on for six weeks. That was double wrapped whith cylinder jackets with an aquarium heater keeping the wash at a steady 27 degrees. The final two weeks I added a little bicarb to move it on and a damned good thrashing. You just have to be patient i'm afraid but it will come back. Get yourself an old fridge or freezer to keep them in, that'll be my next move for sure.

If I wanted patience, i'd have trained to be a doctor.

At this time of year I feel for those of you with brews in sheds and garages.

Nothing much is happening still, I was going to give it a whisk but forgot, if I remember I'll do it in the morning and add some bicarb as suggested, fingers crossed.
Is there a point where you have added too much yeast, I thought any spare yeasties were consumed by working yeast?
Easy drinker, your compassion towards us struggling brewers stands you upon a plinth, a beacon of hope to those in need, I'm in need, I need a bottle of your finest hooch, the stuff you dont even share with friends, post one to me and I'll tell everyone how great you are.

One bucket is now reading 1010 and the other 1000 so something is happening, I have now added a teaspoon of bicarb to each and delivered a damn good thrashing with a balloon whisk, there was a lively froth and now both seem to have picked up a bit, temp raised by 2 degrees also, looks like these will be saved.

You already told them!, and it looks like you will soon have your own, so I will hold off on sending one.
