lol its not £18 sexy but I am a tight northerner, this is just my thoughts but essencia are like any business and 45 litres is probably when they would like you to change the filter, why not take a bottle off and keep it for comparing as to when the filter stops doing its stuff.

Lmao, I\'m a tight northerner too and I agree, I would probably take it to 50 litres just because I don\'t like being told what to do! But I think it is 18quids worth of the brewers equivalent of lesbo nurses3 and I wish I had one, that would cause my brewing friends to drool and besides if you used to buy overtaxed overpriced spirits before, as I did, then its less than the price of a bottle of single malt. AND it makes you more popular with the ladies when you can produce their drink of choice (usually vodka) for a couple of quid

I agree that 45 Litres is when the manufacturers would like you to change the carbon as that probably covers their arse for any claims of inefficiency. I would suspect that it would also depend on the quality of spirit being put in. As you say Bluecap I\'ll save some of the early stuff asa bench mark. Also when the carbon is exhausted it wil be worth having a look at whats in the cartridge.

I know these filters are designed to filter spirit I just can\'t help thinking about the info around on the internet about plastisizer, (spelling?) leaching from plastics into spirit. Im sure somewhere i read too it recommends leaving the lid off or something if filtering hight % alcohol.
i like the look and the system they use i would just be happier to see it all ceramic, glass or stainless steel.

I have to admit the problem of leeching from plastic went through my mind before I bought this filter however I thought about the fact I\'ve been using a Z Filter and again all the components are plastic as is the collection vessel that SS supply with their Air still. So I made the decision that someone in the industry has tested this kit and found it suitable. The instructions regarding the lid say that if filterig high strength alcohol replace the lid with a dinner plate which is probably what you may of read.

Download the instructions from their website. The ones in the kit are very basic. It\'s a PDF on their site and quite detailed.

Don\'t forget that your first batch of spirit will push more water out of the caridges which you wnt to take off before you start collectng.

Hi Guys
I would just like to set the record straight and say that the carbon cartridge is £18.80 and the ceramic cartridge is £19.95.
The carbon cartridge will treat 45 litres of alcohol at 40% or 33 litres at 55%.
The ceramic cartridge will treat 50 batches.

No problem, you will see it for yourself when you get one, how easy and
good they are, I like the design of it also, quality product. Now I have loads
of Z filter papers and carbon to shift...
