It's a good idea John, I made a short length of 2" Copper pipe...a tri clamp each end then you can fit whatever you need.

I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

Crusader won't sell direct less than 25, you have to go through Brew UK.

That's where I got mine from, about £70 cash if I remember correctly.
The reconditioned ones aren't much cheaper and they looked quite battered to me so I went for a shiney new one.

Re: Might "Splash the Cash"
Dont forget to add transport and then VAT onto the full price. It rapidly gets expensive.
I bought my kegs from kammac.com.
You can now get 33 and 50 litre "fermenters" from brewbuilder that come with two fitted triclamp ferrules.
Mine has been delivered but is still in the box for another few weeks.
Milk cans and fustis are alternatives but kegs are a lot stronger. They are pressure rated after all.

Still upgrade put on hold until I fit new kitchen....
Like mentioned before by Myles, once you add VAT, import duty, delivery and the robbing bastards at my bank wanting a percentage for transfer costs it's made a good price expensive.
Will wait until kitchen is done and see if anything is left from the pot...

Re: Might "Splash the Cash"
May I add something as someone who has imported one or two things from China before
Buying some small stuff like clamps or so is easy. You mostly get what you order.
But a whole setup, even a milkcan with parts can be really a pita. It should be clear, that the chance of grabbing a piece of shit is here really high. We have had a hard time to find a good source for milkcans and mine do cost far more when I bulk buy them before tax and customs. So there is a reason for everything and I am really not the person who spends money easily.
The same goes for simple parts or whatever. Cheap in China means really cheap.
I sit here on a pile of things, that are unsellable or simply bad craftmanship or plain ugly and useless. All pieces be bought for trial. Given what we spend on sourcing and quality control I think our milkcans are not expensive at all. The best thing: someone else had to quarrel with the factories, someone else did the import duty and you get what you see in most times in less than a week from us, with support!

Re: Might "Splash the Cash"
We don't buy there.
The milkcans are discounted at the moment.
They come without shipping charge and any more custom duties.
We have a better lid now, that is stronger for heavier columns. I am very pleased with the quality.
