How's about Hog Rings?

Postby Cherry Yidaki » Tue Dec 03, 2013 9:57 am

Hey, I found some old, copper-jacketed steel hog rings in my shop. I'd like to throw them in the pot in lieu of saddles or Raschig rings. I'm pretty much of a newbie so am uncertain if the steel will give my run a bad taste. Any thoughts?

Anything made of solid copper is OK,

Anything copper plated I would give a miss.

Why do you want packing for making rum? You dont want any reflux. What you do want is for the vapor to spend as little time as possible in the column so that the flavor that makes rum what it is, comes accross.

Copper plated anything, if used, would not be a good idea.

And I just read you said run - not rum. It was the rum that got my attention.

Chuck the hog rings, butcher the hog, have a big BBQ and drink what you made.
