Home thoughts from abroad

Postby Easydrinker » Thu Jan 24, 2019 10:46 pm

There are several forums/sites that I joined over the years concerned with home distillation.
I have allowed a couple to slide, one purely because it did not allow me, as a "member" to log in anonymously, I wish them well.
Another went off on a technical tangent, In which I had no interest, I wish them well also.
A couple of others appear to have the moderators from hell. I don't visit very often.
The thought occurred to me this evening as I logged in here, looking for activity,--we did have fun, while it lasted.
I am sorry that this epoch appears to have ended; sorry that others couldn't join us to chew the fat.
Without the sometimes banale/trivial questions from new members, any forum will dry up, as evinced here.
Other forums are available; but this one while being mostly very friendly does also have a wealth of information available for those with the time to look.
By my reckoning there is about 14 months of server 'up' time to read the archives here before they are lost.
New readers get busy, Regular ones, as you were, you did it already. Maybe.
Just sayin'.

I hope this is just a temporary lag in activity. I have enjoyed many hours on here and would like it to continue. I have even made a few contributions and hope I have been able to help a few new comers out.

This has been a great home away from home, the lack of activity is a shame!

Re 14 months server time left ,does that mean this forum will end after that time.

I base what I stated above in the knowledge that Jimmy paid us a brief visit around May 2018 and when I checked the server status afterwards it appeared to be paid up for the following two years.
As he is now off the radar, then, yes I consider that the end of this forum is nigh.

I have very little knowledge of computers and
the like, but can we not transfer the contents
of this site to a new one and start again.
Cost? Time? Who?
Please excuse my ignorance guys just a thought.

Further to add I think the term is Server,
that would not be a problem or I think expensive.
I have contacts in this field of work.

Only the owner of a website has the authority to copy it to an another server.
Should anyone out there have contacts in the world of hacking capable of circumventing this rule, I am all ears.
