For ages I was annoyed at the messing around I had to do when running the Airstill in terms of aligning three levels for the Airstill, Parrot and collection vessel. I recently came across some clips designed for holding tools on a wall and built this;



I had to bend the spout to make the parrot reach the collection vessel but it's all very neat and tidy now.

Those clips could be just what I am looking for on the side of my boiler, having a wooden boiler makes life easy for somethings.

Having read Aidanmac's use of a parrot with an AirStill, and his guide to producing better alcohol with the much maligned AirStill, (you've got to start somewhere) I made up the following quick application. So far so good and the results appear to be much superior to the single run the manufacturer recommends. This little run will give me some good neutral to keep me going until I've completed my power regulator for the new 25 ltr pot still. A couple more days should do it and I'll add some more pics. SW

Use a glass container for collecting high ABV spirits if you can StillWaters.
High alcohol content tends to extract weird stuff from plastics. I don't want to see you end up with tainted hooch.

Thanks Scarecrow. The picture shows the AirStill collecting everything down to 20% ABV in a stripping run mode, so no high alcohol content. I assume this is safe for short term use? I move straight to all glass containers for the cuts in the higher alcohol spirit run. The low wines are only in the plastic for a very short time (advantages of retirement and plenty of time to distill in one session). SW

What comes out initially will be quite high ABV. I would not use that plastic container myself. You can buy glass ones, thought they are not cheap. A cheap, glass teapot would probably work.

I use two 1lt glass measuring jugs when running my Airstill. These are relatively cheap and cheerful and the type used for baking/cooking are ideal.

That container that's supplied with the Airstill/Smartstill should be stored with your chocolate fire guard and glass hammer

+1 and, while your at it....
put the rocking horse sh#t and the hens teeth there too.

meanwhile, glass or stainless steel is the go. 1 litre max per container is all you need and if they have any accurate ml measurement on them, even better. Just make sure they fit under the still outtake/parrot for ease of use.
