Essencia is on it's way.
Well I'm so pi**ed off with the filter that you get with the airstill I've gone and ordered an Essencia from Balliihoo home brewing. I put the order in at 12.07 and I received an email at 12.36 to say that it had been shipped...
should be here by Monday.
How's that for service??? never used them before, but will in the future.

Should you produce slowly enough that it goes a couple of weeks without use,you may find a small problem in the upper filter air-locking,(easily sorted),other than that, expect all to be good.
Much better than before.

I suspect in my case that despite being put aside "wet",by the next use,the ceramic cartridge had started to dry out.
The remedy is simply to invert in a jug of water.
Obviously not an unusual occurence,as it is mentioned at the end of the instructions-

After my recent experience with the Z-filter I was thinking about investing in the Essencia.
Please let me know how you get on with it.

Re: Essencia is on it's way.
When I got my Essencia I ran into a few problems and contacted them in NZ.
This is copied and pasted from what I posted at the time.
I too had experienced the 'no throughput' problem and after contacting the manufacturers by email, they actually rang me from NZ and recommended filling the upper chamber with water or spirit and to keep topping it up until the upper and lower containers were at max capacity and then leave it for 24 hours.
In my case this did fix the problem.
Never had any problem since

I've only just got around to reading the book that comes with the filter, it does state to fill both filters with cold water and let them stand for 2 hours. Then put it together, fill the top reservoir to cover the cartridge and leave over night.
