Formula for \"letting down\" spirit ?
Can anyone recall the formula for letting spirit down to a lower %ABV ?
I seem to recall it\'s something like A quantity of high strength spirit, added to B quantity of water, gives C total quantity at D lower %ABV or something like that....
It\'d be great if someone could clarify this.......
regards
P!
p.s. and yes, it\'s probably basic, but for the life of me, I can\'t remember it.....

Formula for \"letting down\" spirit ?
A x B / C equals D.
A. starting vol of spirit
B. Starting %alcohol of spirit
C. Desired %alcohol of spirit
D. Total vol to achieve required %alcohol.
3.5 litre x 93 %vol / 40 %vol equals 8.14 litre
( add 4.64 litres of water to your 3.5 litres )
This is what I use.
