Thermal cut out T500
Hi All
Running the T500 when there was a smell of burning and the T500 switched off. On the base of the still there is a small hole that has burned through. I would imagine that the thermal cut out has burned out. Has any one replaced a T/C on this still?
Still Spirits don't supply T/C as spares, but you can get T/C from various places. The only other thing is a new boiler, they seem to be around £190. The still is about three years old, maybe used thirty times or so. Not really had a lot of use,is this a common problem?
Thanks for the replies.

I would change your name Luckyshot. I have never
heard anyone having problems like that.
Have you tried Lovebrewing they are very helpful.

Hi There
There has been problems with the reset button and the thermal switch reported. It will probably end up buying a new boiler. When you have a look there does not seem to be a similar still on the market in the UK.
There are plenty of stills from the US, Poland, China etc but there is the problem of customs. The t500 up to now has been great.
Thanks for your reply.

You can ping Stillspirits a message on their website. They may be able to help. It’s probably not that difficult or expensive to install a replacement cut out unit.

Yes there are loads of polish etc still for
sale, but not a lot known about them !
The other option if you are good with your
hands is build one. Now we do have guys
that have and are using their own to great
effect. But if you are like me, a pair of
left hands, then a new T500 boiler would
be my chosen path.

If you do go down the new boiler route....I’ll take the old lid off you to replace my damaged one
