Sloe gin
Just made some sloe gin, 800ml of 40% with 100g of dried sloe berries mixed up with a bottle of gin essence. I only had to leave it two weeks before it was dark red/brown. Sweetened with splenda and re-used berries for my next lot.
What are you doing at the moment ?

Sloe gin
did it come out Ok umpa ?
Only because I made a similar thing but with dried elderberries last year.....and I sort of used far too many elderberries and ended up with a slight \"powdery\"/dusty sort of taste.
That\'ll probably be corrected if I added more gin - which is the eventual intention.......

Cor, bleedin\' hell alan. You\'re lucky to have any sloes as well, there was virtually nothing around here at all - though I didn\'t work out whether it was a rain/lack of pollination thing or a late frost/cold snap.
Luckily there looks like being plenty this year!
I\'d guess that starting it as early as this, would give it plenty of time to "mash", giving a nice, strongly flavoured batch.
Good luck with it.
p.s. Oh and maybe you could post the recipe you use for others to try "as and when" ?
