Wow I've got to try making this..
Shopping yesterday I treated the better half & myself to a bottle of this..

When on holiday we tried Bundaberg rum and kinda got a taste for it, so I thought lets give Bacardi a go..
I can't wait to have a go at making a clone

The issue with Bacardi, is that it seems that they make Rum on every carribean island. Just that usually it's only their brand centre piece that we see here, and maybe the new product lines like this one......
The best one I tried while I was in the mob, was Barcardi Black Puerto Rican. It was smooth and quite sweet. All you had to do was bung the whole bottle in the fridge to chill and you could sip it neat, with much ease !
Don't forget, for ease of making, the SS Classic range has 5 or 6 different rums. I'm quite partial to their "navy" rum as that has a nice vanilla hint to it, rather like "Morgans Spiced"........

This has "Puerto Rican" on the label...and
Quote..."spices including maple, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey and vanilla are added".
The better half picked up on the vanilla and I can too now.

S'pect it'll be different though because its more like the "gold" equivalent. We just bought the "black" one because it was in 1.75 litre glass jugs (same shape as a 2 litre plastic milk bottle) and only 6.75$US.......
they had white and gold rums like that too but more expensive.......
we did go to as many distillery tours as we could.........
I know there's a bundaberg type essence available (not sure if I've got one down stairs or not) but all of the classic range rums have been good IMO.....

My Cherry Blossom baby is off next week to spend a few days on Puerto Rico with her 4 sisters. They're staying a resort in Humacao, but certainly plan to hit the Bicardi factory tour. I see there's another big distillery in/near Ponce. Now mention of tours, though. Any suggestions of what she ought to see/drink? One of the doctors (Cuban) she works with says she needs to try a real pineapple mojito.

Not really. We were there on a ship so limited to the base/exchange for a live firing exercise on a nearby range.......
Either way, twas a good experience and the rum was excellent......

Good value for the money, the Barcadi tour is well worth the visit, 2 free drinks and a free tour,,
We did it last year and will do it again in 25 days,,
There is also a DonQ rum tour as well
