Re: Welcome to the forums!
Hey guys thanks for the welcome.one thing iv'e learned from this board is there is no fear of asking questions being trivial or otherwise there is always someone
willing to lend a hand. (thx Robert) I will have questions but none at the moment as i been a good noobie and done all my reading. I must have read the topics on this board a good number of times over the last couple of years, but i mentioned that in my intro. (@ chill)hope that tables got a poker mat, cause i'd love to sit at the table sippin a fine drink with you guys.

Blue Duck Hi & welcome...
Sorry I don't know why your email got bounced back, but it's all fixed now...thinking about it, did you try the forum email? or the one I setup? It's funny reading your intro about yourself as that writeup was me a while back. Started with an Airstill and now moved on to the 500....and I also followed VT and built a pothead. What's next I sometimes wonder where this "hobby" will end....anyhow nice to have you on board mate.

I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

Hi,icefever cheers bud, it was the email you set up, it just bounced back, no biggi. all is well now. I know what you mean by what is next, it started as a hobby to fill a void in my life, I get quite impulsive when i take a hobby up, then the grand ideas started creeping into my head.(what if i could do this, what if i could do that,) then ive just got to remind myself (its just a hobby) which i love doing, keeps me busy and keeps me in my fav. tipples at the end of the evening.
cheers!

Hope you've got an attic or cellar....

Hey!
N00b here... I'm Scottish, and very interested in trying out some basic distillation at home. Tempted to get a smartstill and see how it goes. Still reading up before I actually commit the cash, as maths isn't my strongest suit - and don't want to end up poisoning myself

You're welcome to dig in here and see how others have gotten on at this useful hobby. Don't worry about maths it's not a big part of this thing and there are calculators available free online to do the few calculations you might need from time to time.
If you run into any difficulty just ask, we're a friendly lot here, for the most part, and you can be sure any questions you have will be answered.

Thanks! I'm heading off for a few months abroad soon, so it might be next year that I get to dive in properly, but definitely interested!

Re: Welcome to the forums!
Hi there! why do these little hobbies become so addictive? My wife and I started brewing our own wine just over 12 months ago, then one day whilst in the homebrew shop that we use, noticed the Smartstill, asked a few questions about it and the about 6 months ago ended up buying one, even though at the time we didn't drink much spirits!!! well we've done 2 washes now and found that the quality isn't too bad and we've now got a spirits shelf to rival the local boozer!! So much so, found that waiting 3 -4 hours for each 4 litres of wash was getting too much so we've now put a deposit on a T500, so hopefully picking it up in the next couple of weeks, just in time to get the christmas stock up LOL.
I came across the site a short while ago but didn't have too much time to have a good luck round, so still going through the threads. From what i've found so far you all seem a great friendly bunch, I'm sure i'll have some questions soon but until then i'll see you soon!!

Monstercooke,
Welcome indeed!
Pull up a chair, and fill your glass, and share a bit of a blather, and some advice.
Really, the folk here just want to help each other,so do jump in the deep end and have a little faith, someone will help you out of the pool,if you need it.
Happy Stilling,
Robert.

Re: Welcome to the forums!
Hello all,
I'm new to this and grateful to learn.
I've made wine from fruit (years ago), but this is new to me! I only now have the time to do this - in rebellion to extortionate taxes and desiring a "nice" drink!
I LOVE to cook and appreciate flavour - Indian Curry is my favouite, spices are SO subtle.
I hope I can apply this to distilling, obviously NOT wanting to make a "curry" spirit - but learning to use the subtleties of flavour in this art.I'm too inexperienced to post my homemade damson jam addition to a SS VSOP but I'm sipping it now and I love it.
Hats off to all the members who make "tipples" for their Ladies!!
