What gets your goat?

Postby Benoit » Tue Jun 21, 2016 5:34 pm

You can take this as an open invite to moan about life in general if you so wish but I had a thought whilst doing a job today, despite loving this hobby dearly there are a few things that really annoy the living daylights out of me and this is one of em:
Imagefree image uploading

It's the big gasket on my fusti, I have to wrap this bugger about once a month and it boils my blood, irrationally so! Takes me nearly half an hour to go round it with a double layer of ptfe, I've yet to work out an easy or quick way to do it & it drives me round the twist! The other thing is carrying full buckets about, makes me walk like I'm missing a donkey so it doesn't hit my leg & splash around everywhere!

So do tell, get it off your chest & feel liberated....what does your nut in?!

Hey Benoit, does this gasket fit one of the pots you showed over in the Storage thread?
I can't believe the honeymoon is over in the space of a week since you first put it up :D

Me? I'm still lusting for them......

Washing up gets my goat. You can create enormous amount with a wine/beer/spirits hobby spending almost as much time on that as the 'making'. Some stuff before and after use !!!

I have dedicated my life to reducing it as much as possible. Most of my stuff is now stored wet or I have changed the process to not make as much in the first place.

I'm with Mash. Cleaning is a real pita, especially when using turbos with activated carbon

I really don't envy you boys using that stuff, the worst I have to deal with is yeast sludge or occasionally the BIAB bag...that's a pain all the barley gets in the seams

And Packa, I've probably had the fusti in some kind of use since about March but I keep making tweaks which have involved welding which puts it out of action for a bit, seals come off etc & then I have had to rewrap it. I've only done it 4, maybe 5 times now & it winds me up just thinking about it :D
I have a friend with a completely irrational hatred of Ian Rush, I think my seal wrapping hatred is a similar situation!

I'll tell you what gets my goat!!!

My guarage is so full of shit I've not been able to brew/distill anything for weeks! And the supply is running low!

And after committing to paying over £8K to have my hole garden re-done with pattern imprinted concrete and managing to keep 5 kids and a dog from walking on it for weeks, my sister lets my nephew run all over the front less than 24hrs after the front has been concreted, footprints that will be there for ever, the little cunt!!!

Holy smokes those are some expensive foot prints! Full appreciation for appropriate use of my favourite swear word, short of ripping it up to start again is there nothing that can be done?

(Firstly a boring comment, this is not the first link of yours to Freesmileys that doesn't work for me mate, is the problem at your end? I can't find a work around at mine, but here messages are often delivered by a runner with a piece of wax sealed parchment in a cleft stick....)

Anyway, back to the gratuitous ribbing.

Apparently, if you cut off the offending small feet, there are companies that can use them to produce an inverse-mould/dispenser type thingy, you simply flobble it around the area and fix the problem.

Give the little fecker a bed-time story ;)

Seriously,tough shit.

Begs the question did your sister do it on purpose. Stunningly disrespectful.

Someone really doesn't like me today, why oh why has it decided to do this mid run?!
Can anyone recommend or link me to a sturdy power controller please? This was my spare, thought it would last longer than what it has :-\

Well this,http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140553987088?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT, is what I have used for a couple of years, on YHB's recomendation. It did die a couple of weeks ago, but the identical back-up is working well.
Clicky linkies not working from here tonight, if it floats your boat, work a little.
