I'm about to make some gin liqueurs (it's pick your own season!). What base gin do you think would work best? I was thinking of just making a very basic one with just Juniper, coriander and cardamom before adding the fruit and the sugar.

I am inclined too agree with you, a simple gin base for your liqueurs.

A basic one must include angelica and orris - these are flavour "fixers" without any, your flavours will fade quite quickly.

If you are going to infuse fruit flavours I think
a simple Gin is best.
So Juniper and corri and the fixers as Mash says.

Re: Sputnik Airstill Gin Recipes
I disagree with Mashes idea of "fixers".
I would forget them.
Just one reason being that you are making liqueurs not gins.
Not wishing to start a "handbags at dawn" thing.
Robert.

Hmm. I was thinking of sweet fruit flavoured alcoholic drink. Using a gin base, sugar and fruit.
If so and you want the gin flavour to remain. You need fixers.
If you don't what the gin flavour to remain, don't bother making the gin base, just use neutral.

That of course is always an option, it don't need fixing - if it ain't staying.

Probably. When I was researching gin, a few years ago, I was amased at the lack of web content and books.
I am sure that will change with the rash of trendy ginsters rushing to make pop. (ponsey overpriced product)
