I have never really understood the use of gold and gold leaf in food, other than ostentation.
It has no value as nutrition.
I can't believe that it helps a brew or distillation, other than eye-candy and the aforementioned ostentation.
You must be planning some special occasion for this planned drink of yours.
If you manage it,the drink, and the occasion,do let us know how it went.
I don't know of anyone here that uses gold in their day to day brewing, and don't recall this drink being discussed.
Unless someone comes out of left field,I don't think that this site can help you.

@Paul: A couple of years ago I played around with gold foil in a white rum. The idea being that the Chinese would pay a fortune to be able to show their friends and business associates that they could afford to drink gold. Face is a big deal here.

I used gold foil which was a pain. It is so thin it floats and I had to fold a small piece a couple of times so it would sink. Looks fine when you shake the bottle or pour it.

The foil I got from an Australian pastry chef who used it to decorate whatever. There was more fun in talking about doing it than there was in the end result.

The only gold leaf drink that I've seen was when we visited friends in Poland. When it came to return home we were given a present of a bottle of Goldwasser.

There's a shot left in the bottom which I'll finish on crimbo day, but the gold adds nothing to the drink, the vodka is great, so smooth...Image

Am led to believe that the gold leaf scratches the back of your throat and the alcohol gets into your bloodstream quicker.

That's a common story, but there's no truth to it:

There is a simple way to add some glitter to your hooch.
Take a clean file and an unwanted item of Gold jewellery.

The filings don't suspend as well as flake/leaf might, although look good if you shake the bottle.
