T500 copper column

Any other T500 users out there using the copper column?

I've not used the stainless steel column so can't compare. Was interested in whether anyone has used both and whether there is much to choose between them.

I understand the copper is supposed to reduce sulphur but that is achieved with the copper saddles in the stainless steel column anyway.

The standard one uses the copper saddles that are placed in the top of the column, then the column is back filled with the rest of the ceramic saddles.

I've seen pictures of a copper made column, but from what I've learned it's just a cosmetic thing. The column works in the same way.

The only different one I'm aware of is the copper boiler lid and pot still/leibig condenser attachment, which converts it to a pot still.

When i asked a certain supplier of still spirits products,
what are the main differences between SS column and copper.
By that i meant benefits, he said £20 ?
As far as he could tell no difference at all!!
Just taken delivery of my T500.
Virgin run will be on Good Friday.
Notice they now pre pack the column with S.S and copper,
that is an improvement over the old ceramic saddles.

I suspected there may not be much difference apart from the rather cool look of it.

I've since replaced the ceramic saddles with stainless steel and a small pack of copper.

Very honest of him to admit.
But I am going to have a look at the copper dome and condenser.
They may be pricey but i really would like to make rum,
and not use a flavor thingy.

The copper dome and condenser are 100% worth it for rum. The twice distilled rum I've made recently is probably the best liquor I've made so far.

I'm not sure if the copper column is worth the price. That's what I'm using for vodka, but I never tried the stainless steel one.

Thats my plan too.
Will be ordering my copper ware
next week.
