Here's my plan...........
After graduating from SS turbos, i've done a Kale wash, double distilled ,slow, but great results. I used SS additives, whiskey, Rum , Gin etc... i found them very acceptable.
I have a lentil wash just about finished so i'll be stripping that in a day or two. Tasted it and i've found it tastes different than the Kale wash. Its nice and sort of neutral, but to me there a nice "fruity" taste to it. Not too strong just very subtle, oh, i used yellow split
peas.
Once its been double distilled i aim to just make whiskey with it. So here's what i aim to do....... once i've done my spirit run and aired it overnight with an aquarium bubbler i'm going to put my spirit on the hob in a pan and heat it with this immersed...................

I'll let it cool, and repeat process three times. I'll wash the wood in water first to remove dust, and if i see anything in the spirit i will filter it. Other than that am i good to go to create my own Whiskey ?

don't let it get too hot - remember alcohol boils away at lower temps.

Got that thanks Mash, i aim to just let it get hot and start to steam, then stop. I'm aware i'll lose ABV. I'll tase inbetween heating so three goes is theoretical, it might just be two heats. I'll worry about adding a drop of vanilla essence or glycerine, or wether to char the oak a bit first after i've got my first run under my belt so to speak. See where i go from there.............. as long as i have the basic principle right ?

I am guessing that he is alluding to pans of alcohol on a stove top.
If you don't own a microwave and large jar, then this is your way of nuking.
Please don't leave the kitchen or take your eye off the pan.
Other than that, you are in the ball park, make up your own rules to the games that you play.
Robert.

What yeast are you using? That is more likely yeast funk.

Stick some oak in it and push it to the back of the cupboard and crack on with something else, this hobby is all about patience...

OK, OK, OK.. i got it, gas hob bad idea. What vessels are you guys using to nuke ? I'll have to get a pyrex jug ?
As an aside, mention of a gas hob has answered a question i previously asked, and yes i know its already been asked and answered here (i think). I asked how to get quicker running my wash through my airstill.
Split pea wash..............

Simple.......warm it up on the hob first, two litres in a pan, two pans............. bubbling in 20 mins then out the airstill.......

Just using the Allinsons bread yeast. Doing the stripping run as we speak, it seems ok (to taste) . I'll never say never, but i don't intend on replicating the kale/lentil bread yeast recipies. I'm in North West, UK. We've had the best weather ever and great temps, mine took me three weeks to ferment. Gonna try Vodka star next, see what i think.
