Grain distillation
Am i right in thinking apart from smelling and tasting them all, is it roughly the same cuts on a spirit run from a wash with grain, as it is with a wash with a sugar wash, have got 4 liters from stripping at about 28% and have just turned on to do the spirit run, just checking theres nothing to look out for, if the grain releases other chemicals etc

Re: Grain distillation
The fores maybe very slightly larger, but they should be roughly the same otherwise. I make no changes to my procedures based on the wash. Let smell and taste be your guides.

mate
+1 Chucks advice and....
if you were doing a grain wash as the basis of, say, a whisky/whiskey spirit rather than some 'neutral' variant (?)...I'd suggest that a portion of the tails will have more potential to be 'keepers' as there's lots of flavours to be had in them. In other words, there's basically no difference in the cuts/fractions process, just in the potential use of the what is collected.

Re: Grain distillation
Good point Frank! I keep the late heads and tails that I don't use and re-cycle them for the same/similar grain washes. Over time, they too can bring some nice flavours.
