I don't want to start cutting it about, although an internal heater would be nice!
That was my first thought. But you don't need bendable just look for a immersion heater. They take 3000 watts and a simple part controller would do the rest.
Brilliant find.

Insane?.....Really?![]()
I have VERY limited plumbing knowledge. My forte is engineering. Although, a lot of engineering principles are applicable to many other related disciplines.
I can source some used condoms cheaply if you are interested?

Your find is so cute!
And obviously had a previous life dispensing fluids.
The heathen in me would suggest that smacking it with a hammer may encourage it to sit on a hot plate
Other metal working skills are available
Robert.

Lol.

Re: Cleaning old central heating pipes for still build.
I used to use standard domestic elements but they are a bit awkward with the big 2.25" thread size.
It is no longer a problem though as BrewBuilder now stock elements with a 1" BSP thread. Buying female fittings with a 1" BSP thread to fit into a tank is quite easy.
For a no weld option there is an Essex flange (use cork SX washers) in that size, and there are lots of brass fittings to solder in.

And there's me, procrastinating sorting my keg build.........
Some of those elements linked earlier have definitely given me "food for thought". I could easily fit 2 for a faster heat up, then just 1 to run it.
Looking at the amazon link, I liked the wavy element - I "think" (not sure now I'm trying to remember while typing this) that it said 5.25 Kw - which would mean just 1 element and a power controller.........

And probably warm domestic wiring. You need look hard at what you are plugging that into, if you are drawing more than 3kw.
A cooker point would cope. A ring main might. A spur won't. It is all down to the size of the wire in the walls. Avoid normal extension leads.

Good point there which is why mine is intended to run two elements each on a separate circuit.
One element on a switch and the other on a controller.

Yeah, I'd have to check the supply to the shed to make sure it's suitable. I suspect the armoured cable I ran down the garden would be good enough but would need to check the circuit rating from the main box to the sub box I have in the shed.......

Does it run directly from the fuse box?

Yes, but I don't recall what we set it up as initially i.e. what fusing we rated it as. It then runs to an extra small consumer unit.
The main fuse box has been replaced since we put the shed circuit in so I'll just have to check it all......

I'm not the biggest on health and safety, but this is one that I would check.

Re: Cleaning old central heating pipes for still build.
Well, I've managed to acquire 25 inches of 54mm copper tube for my column!...cost me £5! My intention is to machine a SS fitting to screw into my boiler, with a spigot that will be a nice tight fit into said copper tube, which I will secure with a SS clamp. Then, at the top of the column, a fitting, again a tight fit into the copper tube and the other end into a 35mm copper tube, which has a slow 90 degree bend. I want to obtain a copper 45 degree fitting from the 35mm tube, to 15mm tube, and then into a liebig condenser. Hows it sound so far? Havn't got a definite length for the liebig yet.
