Beware of a bargain.

I love ebay, I pick up bargains all the time. I recently picked up a bulk pack of 60 "stainless" scrubbers for packing my new column.

The first warning was the badly translated chinese description - I'm not china bashing here, I know almost everything is manufactured in the far east, but the internet is full of funny translation where they have just used google translate to write the labels.

"This Product is made by the raw materials of stainless steel wires, brass wires, gold and silver wires with beautiful appearance and clean effect to made an elegant and clean kitchen environment for you."

Gold and silver? hmmm.

I thought they looked like the galvanised steel scrubbers that I have seen for sale in a local shop, but it was shiny like stainless. So I soaked them overnight in some high proof junk-a-hol.

The shiny coating came off and it looked like grey galvanised steel. A real stainless scrubber is on the left.
Glad I checked before packing a column with it.

Just goes to show Capt... :o I did the same with the s/s scrubbers from Aldi...used them as well in the kitchen for weeks...they were still bright & shiny at the end.

I have to admit that I have also fallen foul of scrubbers.

Nothing works like a good scrubber.

Restaurant supply places have good SS scrubbers. They cant afford to try and pass off crap scrubbers to a restaurant.
