yield
Can someone tell me what I should expect to get in finished product from a t500. I am getting one next week and am curious how much I will get each run. Also I am a bit confused on diluting to get around 100 proof of finished product.
Don't yell at me because I'm a virgin distiller

Re: yield
I know this may seem like not much help but what you get out depends on what you put in!
The strength of your wash, how clean it is going into the still, the pH of the wash...all these things will determine what you get out.....and that's just on the stripping run!
On diluting you spirit; 100 proof is 50%ABV and there is a simple formula for calculating the water to be added to get your spirit down to the desired strength.
Take the initial strength (ABV) of your distillate and divide it by the strength (ABV) you want, then take away 1 from the answer, next multiply the remainder by the volume in litres....sounds awkward? Try it this way; if you have 6.5 litres of distillate at 80%ABV and you want to dilute it to 50%ABV the calculation goes like this;
80 divided by 50 = 1.6 minus 1 = 0.6 multiplied by 6.5 = 3.9 which is the amount of clean water, in litres, you must add to the distillate to get the strength to 50%ABV.
Your original 6.5 litres at 80% will become 10.4 litres at 50%, Simples

That a nice simple bit of maths AM
There's also lots of good calculators for all sorts on the web including ABV of your wash using starting and finishing specific gravity heres one I use all the time
http://www.brewheads.com/calc.php
From this typically you will obtain about 90% of the alcohol (although not all usable look up cuts on other strings) at about 93%.
from that apply AM's simples formula and then 'bobs your uncle'

Re: yield
Well I work on approximation more than strict numbers i.e. I can work out the strength of a wash with a hydrometer. So 14% of 10 litres is 1.4 so for a 25 litre batch I would get 3.5 litres if it was possible/feasible to get 100% ABV.
My spirits hydrometer tells me that I get about 93 to 94% ABV out of my T500, so if I get 3.5 to 3.6 litres I'm happy. Then it's just whether I can be bothered to switch it off or just leave it running until it decides to stop producing.......
