I have a SS domestic hot water cylinder supplied by

Telford Cylinders Ltd
Unit 22 Furrow Business Park
Heybridge Road
Wellington
Telford,
Shropshire TF1 2FE

01952 257963

I recall the elements being unusually small when we fitted it - 1" BSP would be about right.
Really good bunch.

This is what I was looking at,

GRZAŁKA do boilera i c.o. 5/4" 2000W .314 (5045439325)

Copy and paste it might be similar to what you need.

Hope you get sorted.

How about these?

You'd have the check the threading as its not stated, but looks to be much smaller than domestic elements

First of all thanks for any links guys. ;)

Yesterday was a PITA....I spent from 10.00 until 14.00 on the net looking for a element with a 1" BSP thread. I followed links to all sorts of suppliers..I phoned a couple and all I got was "we don't stock 1" BSP, and can't suggest anyone".
I found elements all over the world... :D USA,Aus,Far East...most with BSP thread...but nowt in the UK. Another fact is the length of the element..nothing over 15", and that's mega tight..
Another suggestion was to look at the Camco make from the USA..I read somewhere that they are.
National Pipe Thread Taper (NPT) is a U.S. standard for tapered threads
then I'm told..
US element threads are not NPT, they are NPS
..but if your careful it's possible with the aid of some ptfe tape to make a BSP fit a NPT (or NPS) .by this time I'm ready to jack it all in and turn teetotal.. :-\

After hours looking on USA Ebay at Camco, I found one, only to find that the seller won't ship to the UK...Image also you have to be very careful of the P&P cost..this can be more than the item.

I did get there in the end..I hope..I found a 4kw stainless one, with a 1" BSP thread, 11" so no problem there.. at a silly price, post free..where from??, China..where did you think? :D .all I have to do now is build a new controller to hold the bugger back.. ;)

If SD are selling those boilers into the European, and particularly the UK/Irl, markets, they need to make sure the element fiting on their boilers can take the elements available in each market. I suspected this problem would arise when I saw the boilers.

I'm sure they'll see this thread and get right on it.

They're not going to sell any more boilers if we can't use the elements available where we live ;)

It's a pity but I'm sure SDe will get right on it ;)

It might be worth upgrading to 2 1/4" - I know a man who is artist with a TIG welder.

Might be easier (& cheaper) than adding a controller and using an element that is only available the other side of the world.

Just a thought?

Michael is aware of the size of UK elements and is working on it.

This as been talked about..using a 3" to 2" reducer, then putting a 2.25 boss into a 3" end cap. It could be looked at in the future...would be easier when a new element was needed.

The link on AT post was me Mashy... :D :D

Interestingly the element connector size has never been an issue. 1" BSP seems to be the most prominent all over the planet, which is why the 2" Tri-Clamp to 1" Female Pipe Thread Element Adapter and Element Guard Kit have been made that way.

We already have sold a lot of boiler in Europe and neighboring countries, and never received any feedback concerning problems sourcing fitting elements so far.

The recommended Camco Ripple Ultra Low Watt Density type has a NPT thread, but that does not seem to have been a problem to screw into a BSP FPT (especially with the use of teflon tape, which is recommended anyway).

We currently do not offer any elements ourselves, that's something on the agenda for later on. Of course we can also look into a possible solution for mounting such a 2 1/4" BSP element, but honestly such a thread looks huge and 1" seems to be way more practical. Either way it's not something which we can handle on a short notice, but we are on to it. ;)
