The instructions say \"Solid carbon filter element for EZ filter system & EZ In-line filter. Single use\"
So I would guess no.
I dont think you would be able to clean the solid block (if thats what it is, I have never used one)

I boiled one dried it in the oven and reused it to no bad effect.Infact I reuse it several times before boiling and drying Andy has the Fusalex filter but I can only see the little Fusalex advertised over here in the UK. I have made my own filter out of Plumbers water pipe. I use the EZ first then refilter withe my own design. I hate the Z Filter. There is a good filter one of the guys designed using a seven infunnel. There is a photo of it on the forum and its cheap and easy to use. So much so I am gonig to adopt it myself.

Well I can\'t say about the EZ filter carbon elements, as I haven\'t got one, but in the \"Carbon Filtration Ebook\" by Gert Strand, he explains about re-using the granular carbon by pouring boiling water onto it and letting it soak for a while (5 mins comes to mind, but I haven\'t checked), pouring the water away and doing it again, about 5 or 6 times, until you can\'t smell any spirit smell in the water, then it\'s rinsed in cold water, and then dried by warming it in a low temperature oven.
So I\'d guess that the first part would work, whether you can dry it in the oven or whether you\'d have to leave it to dry naturally, is for you lot that have them. I use a \"Z\" filter so stick to the granular carbon.......
regards
P!

Read that Gert Strand article Phantom. I see you mention Buckfast Abbey on another thread. I used to keep Bees and I used to write to the Great One he was about 90yr old then God Rest Him. His assisitant who was a Microbiologist gave me heaps of help as the Man was so busy. Strangely one of the few drinks I can not handle is the Buckfast wine. just thought I would throw in that worthles piece of info. Just going to put on a cider to ferment. Have a tripple distilled that has stalled over the last 2 days temp dropped to 19c fizzes when strirred then silence.Hydrometer reading is 45 on the red band room temp is 20c. Looks Like I need a Brew Belt or Mat. Cheers Short

Hi billmcc, some people swear by it but my experience with it was it leaked and I got P off with the constant leak no matter how tight I made it.That combined with the messy charcoal put me of it. In the end its courses for horses do hat you feel is best for you. Just spotted this post so welcome to the forum.Lots of nice people here willing to help thats for sure. Just on a learning curve myself and hope its a long journey. Take care short

Cheers short ive only used my z once all was good(no leaks), didn;t have any faith in the tea bag.as regards reusing the carbon i worked at a chemical company for thirty years operating carbon adsorbers which cleaned white spirit, in the time i was there the carbon was only changed 3 times, the carbon was steamed to regenerate it.So my z filter will have a good wash and boil and reused until i notice it failing
Thanks again
Thanks again

Hi billmcc, welcome, - I\'m, too, born in Yorkshire. recarbon filter re-use - I have the Turbo500 wich uses a ez filter cartridge - says it can filter one batch of alcohol from 25 litre still or 300 litres of water. I have 5 \'used\' cartridges - so, by what I read, if I soak them in boiling water, rinse a few times, and dry in a low oven, I should be able to reuse? By the way, since I started to use Tomato Paste wash, the cost of the carbon filter is more than the cost of the TPW ingredients!
