T500 Thermometer Drama

Postby Flybynight » Fri Jan 27, 2017 4:33 pm

I was setting up today and I somehow managed to drown my Thermometer in my bucket of wash! Not my finest hour!

I had to think on my feet as the boiler was already heating up so........remote control thermometer with probe (from my bbq) was what I used. I actually think it's an improvement as it bleeps at me when it goes above a certain tempreature! Much less worry.

I'm now doing my stripping run and it's going well.

I stopped at the end of my stripping run. I have 6L at over 90% sat ready for today's spirit run. I'll dilute to 30% before I start. I'm going to try cuts at 250-300ml to maximise the volume of good stuff.

May I suggest a few smaller ones at the start?
I would, with a pot still suggest towards the end also, if using any kind of ABV measuring through the run,
From the 2nd hand knowledge that I seem to nave acquired of T500's this may prove futile, as the still will probably slow to a stop as tails arrive.
Wishing you Happy Days and pleasant neutral!

Thanks for the tip on cuts size. I'll note for next time. My cat jumped up and knocked over my jug with 300ml of perfect hearts in it. I have been in better moods I can tell you! :D

My 3 year old dropped my infrared thermometer in a bucket of wash just before Christmas >:(

If your short of jars, and based on your numbers, you could collect the first litre, it will most certainly be heads, then collect the next litre in small jars before changing to a big stainless pan or something for hearts, collect 2 litres before going back to your jars for the end.
