Black Tot......

Postby Phantom » Fri Jul 31, 2015 1:12 pm

When I get home, I shall have my dinner then I shall whistle the last post and drink a large glass of rum.......

For those of us with any nautical background, today is "Black Tot" day.

Black Tot commemorates the final daily rum issue to serving members of the Royal Navy. So today is the 45th anniversary of that dark day.......

There are a few reasons that a tot can still be issued/drawn. If a senior member of the Royal family orders "splice the mainbrace", or (as the excellent Surg Lt Cdr Rick Jolly found out while running the Ajax Bay field hospital "down south" in 82) there is also still provision for an "arduous duty" tot....

There may be a few others.........

As rum's my favorite....I'll raise a tot just before bedtime....Image

Yes. About "3 fingers" of rum in a pint glass topped up with coke, makes a nice pint........ ::) ;D

it was only about a quarter pint of grog at the end (ran out of coke)
