hydrometer trial jars
ok im needing a new trial jar for hydrometer the one i got is plastic
now ive seen one on fleabay its a 50ml glass type graduated so i got intouch with seller to find the measurments of this and he says
Length: 19.0cm
Inner Diameter: 2.4cm
Outer Diameter: 2.8cm
will this be ok to use spirit hydrometer without it touching the sides or would a 100ml be suffice,i cant really see the point of getting one bigger then 100ml
whats your thoughts please

Re: hydrometer trial jars
It seems very short.
But it depends on the length of your Hydrometer.
The hieght of my trial jar is the same as the length of my hydrometer which is 22.5 cm.

You'll need the standard 100ml cylinders to float a alcometer with high proof.

A plastic one is fine. The amount of time that the spirit is in it to take a reading is negligable.
If you dig around you can find glass ones from laboratory equipment suppliers, but a lot of them have "minimums", so you'd have to buy 10 and so on.
Besides, if the weights in the bottom of the hydrometer are slightly loose, then it will often sit to one side.
