Molasses
For those in the UK do you know of a cheap place where you can buy in bulk molasses, the cheapest i have found it Blackstrap Molasses 740g (Meridian Organic) £2.80 is that good or bad, The recipe im following is
2.25kg of raw cane sugar - This is about £2.50 for 500g is there a cheaper alternative ?
20 Litres of water
80 oz of unsulphered molasses - is this 2.2litres or 2.2kg
This is the 1st time making rum and im looking my finished product as spiced rum
thanks

Re: Molasses
I use that molasses for my rum.
It states 100% molasses on the label, and is about 72% sugar. Which works out about 1kg of fermentables per litre, which makes it nice and easy for working out a recipe.

Re: Molasses
The only place I could get molasses was from Holland and Barrett,£2.00 for a 450g jar. Quite expensive.
